Deadpool fans really want him to host ‘Saturday Night Live’

More than 25,000 people have signed a petitionasking for Deadpoolto host Saturday Night Live.

No, not the actor Ryan Reynolds. Deadpool, the fictional character.

This kind of petition is not exactly rare, and most of them have no impact whatsoever. But with Deadpoolwell, just think about it for a minute. He’s basically the perfect host. Reynolds has spent countless hours filming PSAs and tie-in videosas Deadpool, and the character’s fourth-wall-breaking antics would be perfect for SNL‘s studio audience. It’s a totally plausible idea.

When actors visit the SNL set, they usually do at least one sketch related to their most famous role. With Deadpool, you’d just have Deadpool playing every part, wearing a second costume over his regular Deadpool costume. A few months ago, this would have seemed like a ridiculously niche joke for Marvel fans, but after Deadpool‘s runaway success this week, who knows?

There’s a good chance that SNL showrunner Lorne Michaels will never see this petition, but if he does, he should read this section:

“I have not watched a full episode of SNL in years because I just haven’t been able to stomach an entire episode, but having Deadpool host, star, and be all over the episode would get the DVR set so I can watch it again and again!!!”

Deadpoolfamously did very, very well at the box office over its opening weekend. By capitalizing on its success,SNL could attract new viewerspeople who either never watch the show or only occasionally catch clips onYouTube.

Online petitions should always be taken with a pinch of salt, but this one is an undeniably great idea.

Evolution Cartoons To Celebrate Darwin Day

February 12th was the birthday of Charles Darwin, and to celebrate Darwin Day, to promote science and highlight his contributions to the field. Darwin is best known for his groundbreaking book, On The Origin Of Species, published in 1859, that convincingly argued the theory of species evolution.

Evolution, however, can take many forms, and we at compiled this list to show it. Did we get better or did we get worse? Have we advanced technology, or become enslaved by it?

J.K. Rowling just announced that she’s publishing this new Harry Potter book

For the many Harry Potter fans who were worried about missing J.K. Rowling‘s new stage play, help is at hand.

On July 31, Rowling will publish the script for Harry Potter and the Cursed Childin print and ebook format, making the story accessible to everyone who can’t make it to the theatrical version in London’s West End.

Everything we know about the 4 new wizarding schools from J.K. Rowling

Pottermore announced Wednesday that Rowling will publish a “special rehearsal edition” of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which takes place nine years after the seventh Harry Potter book, and stars a new cast of adult actors as Harry, Ron, and Hermione. The first edition comes out shortly after the play’s London premiere, and will later be updated with a “definitive collector’s edition.” (Like most new plays, Harry Potter and the Cursed Childmay go through some minor changes during its preview period, before its official opening.)

For obvious reasons, Harry Potter and the Cursed Childis a hot ticket, and many fans have no chance of seeing it liveat least, not until the play is licensed to be performed elsewhere. And while the London production does offer cheaper tickets for each performance, it’s still nowhere near as accessible as a book.

By publishing the script like this, especially with an ebook edition, Rowling is making sure that the new Harry Potter is available to every fan.

Calderdale Rising An Update

Calderdale Rising An Update

Emails and tweets have been sent regarding Calderdale Rising, there are now under 24 hours to fund the campaign and there are still some great rewards available on the Crowdfunding page.
The logo has turned pink for Valentines day on the 14th, if you click it below then you will be taken to the Crowdfunding page for the campaign

Calderdale Risng Happy Valentines

Calderdale Risng Happy Valentines

The message below was sent by Kirsty McGregor who has been ardently campaigning for the 103 businesses affected for free.

Many, many thanks to you if you have supported the campaign, promoted it and shared it amongst your friends and family. There was a party on twitter tonight amongst many of the businesses, followed by facebook, texts emails and, no doubt, a large ‘real’ party in due course! They, along with many other volunteers, have worked very hard to build this campaign into this success, with days to spare!

This campaign has meant so much to these businesses, knowing they are supported. Emails and messages I’ve received tonight from some of our businesses say that they had been thinking of winding up, giving up, and walking away from their business, but this campaign and the positivity surrounding it, gave them the motivation to carry on and rebuild. And no amount of money can create that energy – it was the spirit that this campaign and this community gave them back.

So on behalf of all 103 businesses, their owners, their employees, their customers, their suppliers and the whole community – thank you!
We need these businesses to remain on our high streets, in our industrial estates and scattered throughout this valley. And as the constant rain brings worries again tonight, this will only be the start of a long road back for some of them.

And onwards and upwards!

The target has been raised – because we like a challenge! And we have beautiful gifts still to sell. So we will keep the page open until Friday 12th at 12.30pm. Anything we raise from now on will be guaranteed. Please do continue to share and join in our celebrations.
